Badia di Torrechiara

The Badia di Torrechiara features a central quadrangle with a four-sided cloister walkway, incorporating both Romanesque and Renaissance architectural elements throughout its structure.

Count Pier Maria II de' Rossi established the abbey in 1471 in collaboration with the Benedictine Congregation of Saint Justina of Padua near Torrechiara Castle.

The religious complex, dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows, contains a 17th-century sacristy and museum displaying rooms decorated with period frescoes.

Visitors can access the abbey at Strada Badia 28 in Torrechiara, with guided tours available through advance reservations at badiatorrechiara@gmail.com.

The monastery stands on a river terrace overlooking the Parma stream, providing views of the surrounding Emilian countryside and neighboring medieval structures.
