Santa Maria della Neve

Santa Maria della Neve is a basilica in Cuglieri situated on a hillside, characterized by two pyramidal towers and a marble-decorated facade with detailed carved reliefs. The interior features a single nave with four chapels on each side, crowned by an octagonal dome and adorned with baroque marble ornaments.

The construction of this place was motivated by the discovery of a statue of the Virgin Mary at the nearby coast, found by fishermen and interpreted as a religious sign. It received minor basilica status from Pope Benedict XV in 1919, becoming the first such designation on the island.
