Historic House Museum of Galileo Chini, Art Nouveau house museum in Lido di Camaiore, Italy

The Casa delle Vacanze is a Liberty-style villa in Lido di Camaiore, built and decorated by Galileo Chini himself, with frescoes, paintings, ceramics and furniture from his collection still in place. The house now operates as a Hotel Residenza d'Epoca, and its artworks can be viewed freely during the hotel's opening period, from April to October.

Galileo Chini bought the pine-forest plot at Fossa dell'Abate, today Lido di Camaiore, in 1907 on the advice of Plinio Nomellini. Only in 1914, back from Siam where he had frescoed the Throne Hall of Bangkok's palace for the king, did he build there his "Casa delle Vacanze", a Liberty-style villa he decorated himself.

The house reveals how Chini displayed his artistic interests throughout its rooms, where paintings, ceramics, and decorative objects remain on view. The spaces show a creator who filled his home with works that reflected his passion for craft and beauty.

The museum is located at Via Roma Capitale 265 in Lido di Camaiore and opens seasonally from April through October. Plan your visit around the opening season and check specific visiting hours before arrival.

The villa blends European Art Nouveau with Oriental elements that Chini brought back from his years in Thailand. This mixture of styles creates an unusual look in the rooms that shows influences from both traditions.
