Management center of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze

The Management Center of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze comprises six connected buildings arranged around a central structural spine with surrounding office areas. The complex features underground parking facilities, linking passages between buildings, and a central auditorium with 500 seats.

The complex was built on the site of the former Carapelli industrial facility, following Leon Krier's 1994 urban development master plan for Florence. Its construction marked the transformation of an industrial area into a modern business complex.

The design shows how banking and city life can share the same space through open passages and courtyards. Visitors notice how the layout encourages people to move through and around the buildings as part of their daily routes.

The site is easy to navigate, with underground passages and ground-level paths connecting all buildings throughout the complex. Visitors can move freely between areas and find clear routes to different sections.

A continuous portico at ground level links all six buildings with mature trees growing above the underground parking structures beneath. This unusual feature demonstrates how modern infrastructure can be hidden below while preserving green space above.
