Castello di Reschio, Heritage castle in Lisciano Niccone, Italy.
Castello di Reschio is a castle perched on a hilltop overlooking the Niccone Valley, with thick stone walls enclosing a central courtyard and multiple towers. Today it operates as a hotel with 36 rooms, two restaurants serving regional dishes, and a Roman bath spa located in former wine cellars.
The fortress originated in the 10th century and received imperial recognition in 1355 when Emperor Charles IV granted the ruling Marchesi del Monte family special privileges. This official acknowledgment shaped its status and development for centuries.
Spanish horses trained in classical dressage techniques live on the estate, where traditional winemaking, honey production, and olive oil pressing are still practiced today. Visitors encounter these crafts and animals as part of their stay.
The castle welcomes overnight visitors and provides meals at its restaurants and bathing experiences at the spa. Guests should note that the property sits on a hilltop and walking is necessary to reach different parts of the grounds.
The eight restored farmhouses on the grounds were individually designed by Count Benedikt Bolza with distinctive architectural styles. Each building merges historical elements with modern Italian craftsmanship in its own way.
