The castle rises above Schio with its stone walls, quadrangular tower, and gabled facade incorporating elements from different construction periods.
The Maltraversi family constructed the castle during the Middle Ages, which later passed through various rulers including the Ezzelini, Scaligeri, and Visconti families.
The structure evolved from a military fortress to include the Church of Santa Maria della Neve, which served as the motherhouse for the Gonfalone confraternity.
The castle site connects to Via Petitti di Roreto and provides visitors with elevated views of the surrounding Schio region and its historic center.
Archaeological findings at the castle site reveal ancient settlements dating to the iron or bronze ages, established by Euganean or Venetian populations.
