Giardino Jacquard

Giardino Jacquard is an English garden with museum facilities in Schio, featuring winding paths that pass through rock formations and neo-Gothic structures. At the center stands a reconstructed castle, surrounded by greenhouses, fountains, and various architectural elements spread throughout the grounds.

This garden took shape in 1860 during a period of urban renewal and originally contained structures for drying and processing wool from the neighboring Francesco Rossi textile mill. The industrial past was eventually transformed into green space for public enjoyment.

The theater building displays terracotta medallions on its facade representing important figures from the city's past. The space hosts educational programs and performances that connect visitors to the town's cultural traditions.

The garden is accessible from March through October, with free guided tours available on weekends. Wear sturdy shoes, as pathways wind over uneven ground and rock formations throughout the property.

A former industrial tower once used in wool processing with ammonia derived from urine was later converted into a decorative birdhouse following Venetian villa traditions. This unexpected repurposing shows how the site creatively incorporates its industrial past.
