San Giovanni Battista

The San Giovanni Battista church features elaborate marble decorations, rich wooden carvings, and multiple altars displaying 17th-century baroque craftsmanship throughout its interior.

Construction of the San Giovanni Battista church began in 1686 under the direction of architect Marvaldi from Conio and continued until its completion in 1778.

The church interior contains a 16th-century pulpit and numerous artistic elements that demonstrate the religious artistic traditions of the Ligurian coast.

The church remains open to visitors during specified hours, with guided tours available through the local tourism office in multiple languages.

Following the earthquake of 1887, the church underwent extensive restoration work that lasted more than five decades to preserve its architectural features.
