Domus del Mito

Domus del Mito is a Roman residence in Sant'Angelo in Vado with multiple rooms featuring elaborate floor mosaics throughout. The designs include both black and white patterns and colorful compositions that decorate the different spaces of the house.

The residence was built at the end of the 1st century AD in the ancient city of Tifernum Mataurense and reflects the prosperity of that era. It demonstrates how wealthy Roman citizens invested in elaborate artistic elements to decorate their homes.

The floors display mosaic representations of Neptune, Amphitrite, Bacchus, and Medusa, showing how mythological figures were central to how wealthy Romans decorated their homes. These scenes reveal the stories and gods that mattered most to the people who lived here.
