Monticchio rises to 1,697 meters, featuring a grassy southwestern slope facing the plain and a wooded northeastern side overlooking the Valsessera valley.
The mountain stands at the meeting point of three municipal territories: Campiglia Cervo, Sagliano Micca, and an administrative section of Veglio.
The mountain forms part of the Oasi Zegna, established in 1993 to safeguard the mountainous territory between Trivero and Bo.
Hiking trails to the summit begin at Bocchetto di Sessera, while winter activities include snowshoeing routes from Piaro and Panoramica Zegna.
A geodetic trigonometrical point marked with code 043298 stands at the peak, where blocks of melaphyre, a volcanic rock, form the geological structure.
