L'Aquila Temporary Concert Hall, Concert hall in L'Aquila, Italy
L'Aquila Temporary Concert Hall is a music venue with an elliptical auditorium design and a distinctive pyramid-shaped roof. The building holds around 230 visitors and features walls made from clay bags and cardboard supported by 44 columns.
After the 2009 earthquake, this hall was designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban and funded by the Japanese government. It represents international support for the city's reconstruction efforts.
The venue sits next to the Conservatory Alfredo Casella and functions as a gathering place for musical life in the city. Musicians and students regularly meet here for performances and educational events.
The hall is located in the Acquasanta district near the L'Aquila Est motorway exit, making it easy to reach. It is good to check in advance what events are happening and what accessibility options are available.
The building was constructed together by students from L'Aquila University, Harvard, and Keio University, making it a special international project. This collaboration shows how students from different countries were involved in restoring the city.
