Monte Stella, Artificial hill and park in QT8 district, Milan, Italy.

Monte Stella is an artificial hill in the QT8 district that rises above the city landscape, offering walking paths, rest areas, and viewpoints. The green space links different zones with trails and open areas designed for various outdoor activities.

This hill emerged in the 1950s from rubble and debris left by World War II destruction and demolished medieval fortifications. Architect Piero Bottoni designed the project as part of the city's reconstruction effort during that period.

The Garden of the Righteous honors people who opposed genocide through dedicated trees and quiet memorial spaces scattered across the hill. These plantings tell stories of courageous action that visitors encounter while walking through the park.

The hill has multiple entry points around its perimeter and works well for walking year-round in any weather. The trails are wide enough for families and allow relaxed movement through different park areas.

The hill offers views toward distant mountain ranges like the Alps and Apennines visible from elevated spots. This distant perspective is surprisingly clear for a location in the middle of a large city.
