Monte Tobbio rises to 1092 meters, featuring rocky slopes and sparse vegetation due to its peridotite bedrock composition in the Ligurian Apennines.
During World War II in 1944, Italian resistance fighters faced Nazi and fascist forces on Monte Tobbio, with several partisans captured near Benedicta Abbey.
The summit holds a religious chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Caravaggio, constructed in 1892 and reconstructed following damage during World War II.
Hikers can access the peak through marked trails from Voltaggio or Bosio, with the shortest route starting at Valico degli Eremiti taking 90 minutes.
The mountain provides a 360-degree view extending from the Ligurian Sea to the Pennine Alps, with visibility reaching across the Po Valley.
