Monte Taccone

Monte Taccone reaches 1113 meters within the Ligurian Apennines, marked by steep slopes and exposed rock along its upper reaches. Multiple vegetation zones change with elevation as you ascend.

Since medieval times, the mountain has formed a natural border between Liguria and Piedmont, dividing the lands of neighboring communities. This geographic line shaped regional development for centuries.

Shepherds have long used these slopes for their flocks, maintaining pastoral traditions rooted in the mountain communities of the region.

Several marked trails lead from Pietralavezzara to the summit, with the main path taking roughly three hours to reach the top. Starting early helps you finish with good daylight and proper footwear is essential.

The mountain sits where three distinct ecological zones meet, bringing together plant species from Mediterranean, Alpine, and Apennine regions. This intersection creates botanical variety you would normally find only across separate areas.
