Studio Canova, Neoclassical palazzo in Campo Marzio district, Rome, Italy.
Studio Canova is a three-story palazzo in the neoclassical style with arched doors and window openings. Its facade is densely decorated with fragments of ancient statues, sculptural pieces, and archaeological elements sourced from various periods.
The artist purchased several small houses in this area in 1803 and transformed them into his workshop. The building was later recognized as a monument of national importance and placed under heritage protection.
The place bears the name of the sculptor who worked here, serving as a testament to his artistic legacy in Rome. The facade displays ancient sculpture fragments that reflect the classical interests of its former occupant.
The building is located in the old town on Via delle Colonnette and is surrounded by public squares and ancient ruins. Today it is occupied by an architecture office and is not open for visits, but it can be viewed from the street.
The building was not just a workshop, but also a showcase of the collecting passion of its era. Some of the ancient fragments on the facade came from excavations and were gathered by the artist himself to inspire his work.
