Parco dei Fontanili, Local park in Capralba, Italy

The Parco dei Fontanili is a large protected natural area in Lombardy shaped by underground springs, walking paths, and a mix of grasslands and woodland. The park stretches across connected sections linked by marked trails that wind through varying terrain and vegetation types.

The Parco dei Fontanili was established as a PLIS by the Province of Cremona in 2003, then enlarged in 2006 and in 2012. It covers 1,161 hectares across the territories of four comuni: Capralba, Pieranica, Torlino Vimercati and Vailate. Its stated aim is to safeguard the risorgive with their flora and fauna, together with historic structures such as bridges, cascine, mills and hydraulic works.

The park's springs are called fontanili, and each has its own name, such as Fontanile delle Canne or Fontanone di Torlino. The Fontanili di Farinate in Capralba were chosen as a nucleus of the Province of Cremona's environmental education project "Il territorio come ecomuseo", which treats the countryside itself as an open-air museum.

The park covers 1,161 hectares across the municipalities of Capralba, Pieranica, Torlino Vimercati and Vailate, so plan which springs you want to see before setting out. The Fontanile di Farinate is one of the nuclei of the Province of Cremona's environmental education project "Il territorio come ecomuseo". Paths link the springs, farmsteads, mills and hydraulic structures the park was created to protect.

The park's 1,161 hectares span four municipalities: Capralba, Pieranica, Torlino Vimercati and Vailate. Capralba alone holds twelve listed fontanili, among them the Fontanile delle Lotte, the Fontanile delle Canne and the Fontanile Quaranta. The Fontanile di Farinate was chosen as a nucleus of the Province of Cremona's environmental education project "Il territorio come ecomuseo".
