Punte Patrì

Punte Patrì, Mountain summit in Aosta Valley, Italy

Description

Punte Patrì is a mountain in Aosta Valley with two parallel ridges forming a split summit. The southern peak rises roughly 20 meters higher than the northern one.

History

The southern summit was first climbed in 1881, while explorers did not reach the northern face until summer expeditions in 1965. These two separate ascents shaped the peak's exploration history.

Culture

The mountain exists within Gran Paradiso National Park, where local regulations and conservation practices shape the relationship between climbers and the environment.

Practical

Climbers reach the peak via marked trails starting from Valnontey, with the Money Bivouac at about 2872 meters serving as a strategic resting point. The route demands careful planning due to the high altitude.

Did you know?

The northwestern slope carries glacial ice and offers direct views of the Tribolazione Glacier and Gran Paradiso Massif. From this vantage point, visitors can see the surrounding glaciated landscape spread across the valleys below.
