Demanio forestale di Randello

The Randello forest domain is a public forestry area on Sicily's southern coast that spans approximately 157 hectares and is dominated by pine trees. The territory extends all the way to the Mediterranean Sea and includes a small coastal inlet where forest and beach meet.

The area was originally a private hunting reserve but was later converted into a public forest domain. This transformation preserved its natural features while management shifted over time.

The necropolis of Kamarina lies hidden within this forest, showing how nature and ancient settlements exist side by side. These archaeological remains connect visitors to the region's long past.

The area has many walking paths through Mediterranean vegetation with pines, holm oaks, cypress, myrtle, and eucalyptus trees. Visitors should allow time to explore different areas and experience the variety between forest paths and the coastal region.

What makes this place special is how the pine forests directly meet sandy beaches, creating a rare habitat. This direct transition between woodland and sea is not found everywhere along the Mediterranean coast.
