Riserva naturale integrale Lago Preola e Gorghi Tondi

The reserve encompasses Lake Preola, Lake Murana, and three circular karstic ponds called Gorghi Alto, Medio, and Basso, covering 335 hectares.

The Sicilian Region first protected this area in 1981, before its official designation as an integral nature reserve in 1998.

The reserve demonstrates the successful integration of environmental conservation with sustainable agriculture, as organic vineyards operate within its boundaries.

Access to the reserve requires advance booking through WWF Italia, with guided tours available throughout the year via Provincial Roads 66 and 115.

The wetland complex earned recognition under the Ramsar Convention in 2011, joining the neighboring coastal marshes of Capo Feto.
