Rifugio Segantini, Mountain refuge in Val d'Amola, Italy
Rifugio Segantini is a mountain hut in Val d'Amola at 2373 meters elevation, consisting of an original stone structure and a newer building from the 1970s. Together, these two buildings form a functional shelter and lodging facility for mountaineers and hikers in this high alpine setting.
This facility was the third mountain hut built by the Trentino Mountaineers Association and served as a base for climbers exploring Presanella peak. Its establishment was part of expanding shelter options for alpinists across the region.
The hut takes its name from painter Giovanni Segantini, who found inspiration in this mountain region. On clear days, visitors can see the distinctive Dolomite peaks reflected in the lakes below.
The refuge operates from June through September, offering lodging, meals, and boot-drying facilities for guests in the mountains. It is wise to book ahead of time, especially during peak season, and internet access is available on site.
Visitors can participate in the Trentino Guest Card program, which grants free access to regional museums. The program also includes public transportation use throughout the region.
