Spiagge bianche

Spiagge Bianche is a coastal stretch along the Ligurian Sea with pale sand and clear water in northern Tuscany. The shore runs between Rosignano Solvay and Vada, offering shallow entry points and calm conditions for much of the year.

A chemical plant began operations in 1914, processing sodium carbonate near the coastline. Deposits from the production process gradually altered the natural appearance of the sand along this section of shore over the following decades.

The beach represents the complex relationship between industrial development and tourism, drawing thousands of visitors despite its proximity to manufacturing facilities.

Several sections of the shore offer loungers and umbrellas for rent, while other areas remain free to access. Entry points are located along the coastal road, and parking fills up quickly on summer weekends.

The pale appearance of the sand comes from calcium carbonate settling along the shoreline for over a century. Despite its industrial origin, this shore attracts families and swimmers from across Tuscany.
