Torre della Serpe, Medieval tower in Florence, Italy.

The Torre della Serpe stands near Viale Fratelli Rosselli as part of the former defensive walls of Florence, featuring original battlements.

The tower formed a strategic corner of Florence's medieval walls, extending from Porta al Prato and curving toward the Arno river's northern bank.

The name of the tower derives from a former chief guard who served at this location during the medieval period of Florence.

The Torre della Serpe currently serves as headquarters for CNGEI, the National Corps of Young Explorers and Adventurers of Florence section.

Near the tower stood a small gate called Porticciola, which was demolished during the construction of modern boulevards where the American consulate now stands.
