Tower of Martinsicuro

The Tower of Martinsicuro is a coastal fortification at the mouth of the Tronto River on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. The structure features a cylindrical design and sits on a promontory offering wide views across the sea and neighboring beaches.

The fortification was built in 1547 as part of a defensive system to protect local communities from pirate raids. It was one of several fortifications along this coast that guarded against invaders from the sea during the Renaissance period.

The structure embodies an important part of Italian coastal defense architecture and now functions as an archaeological museum displaying regional artifacts. The building tells the story of this coastal region's historical significance to local communities.

The building is accessible throughout the year and sits alongside beaches where you can walk and explore the coast. Other places in Teramo province are easy to reach from here if you want to expand your visit.
