Riserva Naturale Regionale Sentina, Regional nature reserve in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy.
Riserva Naturale Regionale Sentina is a protected area along the Adriatic coast north of the Tronto River mouth. The terrain features sandy ridges, wetlands, and salt meadows that together create different environments for wildlife in a small area.
The area was shaped by small lakes and ponds in the 1600s, which later disappeared due to urbanization. Recent restoration work has brought back portions of these water features.
The reserve functions as an educational center where local communities participate in guided tours and workshops focused on environmental protection practices.
Visitors can explore marked walking and cycling paths throughout the area, which link to larger regional routes. The trails are well maintained and easy to follow.
The area serves as the only rest stop for migratory birds traveling between the Gargano and Emilia-Romagna wetlands. This small oasis supports more than 400 plant species.
