Villa Roncioni

Villa Roncioni is a country house in Pugnano near San Giuliano Terme featuring a two-story main building with large paired windows flanked by single-story side wings. The structure displays decorative entrances in Gothic style that add character to its classical form.

The Roncioni family acquired the property in 1468 and transformed the original farmhouse into a noble residence through extensive renovations during the 18th century. Over time it became a significant country estate reflecting the architectural development of the region during that period.

The residence now houses the Cerratelli Foundation, which preserves around 30,000 costumes from opera, theater, and cinema productions throughout the 20th century. Visitors can observe costumes from different eras and productions that reflect the history of performing arts.

The property is managed by the Cerratelli Foundation and welcomes visitors by appointment only. Planning ahead is necessary to arrange a visit and learn about the costume collections and training programs offered at the site.

A silk production facility was built on the property in 1822 using Gothic architectural style. This represented the first application of this decorative approach to an industrial building in Italy and shows an unusual blend of artistic design and manufacturing.
