Villa Ruspoli, Renaissance villa near Via Bolognese, Florence, Italy.

Villa Ruspoli is a Renaissance residence in Florence featuring expansive gardens that spread across the landscape. The estate has two distinct entrances connecting to Via Santa Marta and Via Bolognese, with multiple buildings arranged throughout the grounds.

The building was first constructed in 1360 by the Minerbetti family as their residence. In 1441, ownership passed to Santa Maria Nuova Hospital, before eventually being acquired by the Ruspoli family.

The villa reflects how wealthy Florentine families shaped their homes across generations through their choices and tastes. The layout and gardens show the marks of different owners who adapted the space to match their own preferences.

Part of the gardens is open to the public and managed by the city of Florence, giving visitors access to portions of the grounds. It helps to check which areas are accessible before arriving and which pathways work best for exploring.

Two different buildings in this area once shared the name Villa Ruspoli, with one facing the Santa Marta monastery. This overlap in naming happened because the Ruspoli family owned and used multiple properties in this neighborhood.
