Villa Medici at Careggi

The four-story villa features a central courtyard with a loggia, crenelated coping, and stone corbels on its curved eastern facade.

Giovanni de Medici acquired the property in 1417, marking the beginning of the villa's transformation into the family's third residential estate.

The villa housed the Platonic Academy under Cosimo the Elder, where philosophers and scholars gathered to study classical texts.

The building stands at Viale Gaetano Pieraccini 17 in Florence and currently undergoes restoration work under the Tuscany regional administration.

The basement contains a 17th-century nymphaeum built within former wine cellars by Cardinal Carlo de Medici.
