The San Pietro a Careggi church features a single nave design with a seventeenth-century portico at its entrance and frescoes adorning its interior walls.
Originally documented in 1036 as a three-nave structure, an earthquake in the 14th century led to its reconstruction as a single-nave church.
The church contains photographic replicas of significant artworks, including Francesco Conti's 'Christ Giving Keys to Saint Peter' behind the main altar.
Located on Via Cosimo il Vecchio in Florence's western Careggi district, the church operates under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence.
The ceiling and apse dome display frescoes created by Cesare Maffei between 1859 and 1861, while the left altar presents an original painting by Aristodemo Costoli.
