Villa Vecchia, Urban park in historic center of Cosenza, Italy.

Villa Vecchia is an urban park in the heart of Cosenza with paths spreading across multiple levels and lined with mature trees. The grounds feature holm oaks and plane trees that create shaded walkways and open green areas.

The site began as a garden connected to a former monastery in the 1600s and was substantially remade in the 1800s. This transformation gave it the structure and monuments that shape it today.

The Monument to the Martyrs, a white marble statue, stands in the park and honors local leaders who challenged authority in the 19th century. Visitors can experience how this memory remains alive in the city's public spaces.

The park can be entered from several points, including a main entrance near the historic Teatro Alfonso Rendano and another on Via Petrarca. The terraced layout means paths go up and down, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

A circular area within the grounds was originally designed as an amphitheater and still shows its distinctive shape. The space now hosts international musicians and performers during an annual festival that brings the park to life.
