Villa Vecchia, Urban park in historic center of Cosenza, Italy.
Villa Vecchia extends across 30,000 square meters on multiple terraced levels, featuring tree-lined paths with holm oaks and plane trees throughout the grounds.
The park originated from a garden dating back to the 1600s connected to the former monastery of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, undergoing major renovations in 1878.
The Monument to the Martyrs, a white marble statue erected in 1878, commemorates the protagonists of the 1844 insurrection led by the Brothers Bandiera.
Multiple entrances provide access to the park, with the monumental entrance on Via Petrarca and the main entrance near Teatro Alfonso Rendano.
The circular area within the park was initially designed as an amphitheater, and the space now hosts international artists during the annual Festa delle Invasioni.
