Villa Clerici, 18th-century villa in Milan, Italy.
Villa Clerici is an 18th-century residence in Milan featuring a grand facade with striking architectural details and ornate interiors. Inside, visitors find a monumental staircase, decorated rooms with coffered ceilings, and period paintings that fill the halls.
Architect Francesco Croce designed this residence between 1722 and 1733 for Giorgio Clerici, a wealthy merchant. The family had accumulated their fortune through silk trading and held various political positions in the city.
The Gallery of Contemporary Sacred Art occupies the ground floor and displays modern religious artworks within this historical setting. Visitors encounter an intriguing mix of baroque architecture and contemporary artistic expression in the same space.
The villa hosts educational programs, conferences, and candlelit concerts arranged by various organizations. Check in advance what activities and exhibitions are happening during your visit to plan accordingly.
The entrance features a monumental gate that originally came from the neighboring Villa Litta Modigliani. This detail reveals how different historical architectural elements were brought together over time.
