Parco del Sojo is an open-air contemporary art park in the Covolo district of Lusiana Conco, on the southern edge of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. Over seventy works by Italian and foreign artists are placed along a roughly 3 km path through meadows and woods, many made on site from local materials such as bronze, iron, stone, wood, steel and marble.
The Parco del Sojo was conceived in 2000 by the architect Diego Morlin and completed five years later, in 2005. The artworks were placed in the green area beside the rocky spur known as il Sojo, above the Covolo hamlet of Lusiana on the southern edge of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. A planned contemporary art museum, intended for rotating exhibitions of international artists, has not yet been built.
Contemporary artists from Italy and elsewhere have created installations using wood, stone, metal, bronze, ceramics, and stoneware throughout the grounds. These works sit naturally within the landscape, encouraging visitors to think about art and nature together.
The park is open every day of the year, with free access on ordinary days and a fee charged on holidays. The marked route runs about 3 km through meadows and woods, starting near the Covolo district, where a car park is available. Sturdy footwear is useful on the open, uneven ground.
The park's small open-air theatre seats 100 and hosts classical music concerts, plays and talks with national and international speakers in summer. The architect Diego Morlin conceived the park in 2000; it was completed five years later, and a contemporary art museum is planned.
