Villa Franzan

Villa Franzan is a Renaissance building with three stories and fourteen windows along its front in Sarcedo. A long arcaded passage is interrupted by a dovecote tower that defines the complex's visual character.

The building was constructed before 1666, when the Church of Saint Anthony was added as part of the complex. During both World Wars, it served as a military hospital before later becoming a seminary for diocesan priests.

From 1907 to 1968, it housed a diocesan school that drew students from across the region. The rooms still reflect the teaching traditions that shaped generations of learners here.

The property sits in the Barcon neighborhood of Sarcedo and is currently closed to visitors. You should know that the grounds remain empty and viewing is not possible from the road or nearby areas.

The building housed different institutions one after another, shifting from a military hospital to a religious seminary. This succession of uses reveals how dramatically its role changed over the course of the 1900s.
