San Francesco, Gothic church in Deruta, Italy.
The San Francesco church features a single nave with exposed wooden trusses and contains numerous frescoes along its walls and in the apse.
Following its consecration in 1388, the church underwent reconstruction after an earthquake and maintains elements from various architectural periods through the centuries.
The interior walls display important frescoes by Domenico Alfani, including the Madonna with Child between Saint Francis and Saint Bernardino of Siena.
The church remains open to visitors following restoration work completed in May 2017 after damage sustained during the 2016 Central Italy earthquake.
Modern stained glass windows, created between 1950 and 1980 by the Moretti-Caselli studio, draw inspiration from the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi.
