Saint-Vincent Funicular

The Saint-Vincent Funicular is a rail transport system that connects different elevations across the Aosta Valley region using two cars on a single track. The journey rises sharply through the mountainous terrain, offering efficient access between the lower and upper parts of this Alpine community.

Operations began in 1989 following a four-year construction effort that modernized mountain transport in the region. This addition transformed how residents and visitors move through the different parts of this Alpine settlement.

The funicular serves as a central meeting point for local residents who gather around its stations during festivals and community celebrations throughout the year.

Tickets are available for purchase at the station, with rides taking about ten minutes for the vertical journey. The route is straightforward to navigate and requires no special preparation.

The system has a passing loop in the middle of the track that allows both cars to cross each other during simultaneous journeys in opposite directions. This clever design enables two groups of passengers to travel at the same time.
