Cima di Focobon, Mountain summit in Veneto, Italy
Cima di Focobon is a mountain summit in the Pala group of the Dolomites that rises to 3054 meters in height. The terrain features steep rock faces and narrow ridges that demand significant climbing expertise from those who attempt it.
The mountain was documented during 19th century geological survey campaigns in the Alpine region and incorporated into the Dolomites classification system. This scientific recognition helped establish the area as a major mountain massif.
Climbers leave handwritten notes at the summit to record their ascent. These personal records together form an informal logbook showing who has reached this remote location.
Access routes begin from Passo San Pellegrino, with the final approach requiring technical climbing at UIAA grade III difficulty. Visitors should have alpine rock climbing experience and be familiar with climbing gear.
Only a handful of climbing groups, roughly three to five each year, reach this summit making it one of the least visited peaks in the Dolomites. This remoteness preserves the place from heavy foot traffic and keeps its raw natural character intact.
