Construction of Palazzo Guasco commenced in the 17th century for the aristocratic Guasco family, with major renovations by Marquis Lodovico Guasco-Gallarati in the 18th century.
In 1729, the palace introduced the first theater in Alessandria, established by Filippo Guasco, which operated as a center for opera performances until 1766.
Located at Via del Guasco 49 in Alessandria, the palace now houses the Carlo Carrà Modern Art Gallery and provincial government offices.
The palace contains sections that remain in private ownership while simultaneously functioning as a public cultural institution and administrative center.
