Palazzo Guasco Gallarati di Bisio is a noble palace in Alessandria featuring a stone facade decorated with 18th-century elements, including ornate windows and carved moldings. Today it houses the Carlo Carrà Modern Art Gallery and provincial government offices.

The building began as a 17th-century residence for the aristocratic Guasco family and underwent major renovations in the 18th century under Marquis Lodovico Guasco-Gallarati. These changes created the palazzo we see today with its stone decorative details.

The name honors the Guasco family, whose presence shaped this building for generations. Walking through, you can sense how private domestic spaces blend with areas now used for public culture and civic work.

The palace sits at Via del Guasco 49 in Alessandria and is partially open to the public through its art gallery and administrative functions. It helps to check in advance which areas are accessible to visitors, since portions remain in private use as residences.

In 1729, Filippo Guasco established a theater within the palace that became the city's primary venue for opera performances. This private theater served as a cultural hub until 1766 and shaped the artistic life of Alessandria.
