Santa Maria del Carmine is a Catholic church in Alessandria founded by the Carmelite order. Its brick Gothic facade features pointed arches, and the interior has vaulted spaces. The church was built after the Carmelites moved from San Nicolò outside Porta Marengo, with the transfer approved by Pope Clement VI in 1346.

The Carmelites were documented in Alessandria from 1290, when Pope Nicholas IV granted an indulgence to their church of San Nicolò outside Porta Marengo, on marshy ground. A papal brief of Clement VI dated 7 August 1346 authorised the exchange of land for a move inside the walls. Local historian Girolamo Ghilini links the new church of Santa Maria del Carmine to 1466 and to his own family, the Ghilini.
