Castelluccio, Medieval castle in Pienza, Italy.

Located on a hilltop near Pienza and Chianciano Terme, Castelluccio features two circular defense towers constructed with traditional brick architecture.

The Republic of Siena acquired Castelluccio in 1320 and reinforced its defenses with towers and a military garrison due to its position near Papal States.

The castle contains a chapel dedicated to San Bernardino da Siena, who spent time within these walls during his religious service.

Castelluccio remains under private ownership, limiting interior access, but visitors can view its external architecture and defensive structures throughout the year.

The castle holds the tale of Countess Giulia Maria di Montefiore, who faced execution by decapitation in the courtyard following a revenge conspiracy.
