WI. MU. Museo del Vino

WiMu Wine Museum occupies several floors of Barolo Castle and presents wine through multimedia installations, photographs, text panels, and interactive displays. The tour moves through different rooms that explore various aspects of wine production and appreciation.

The museum opened in 2010 within a thousand-year-old castle, turning the medieval structure into a modern space for wine education. This blend of ancient architecture and contemporary design shapes the visitor experience.

Each section of the museum shows how wine appears in literature, art, and film, and what role it plays in regional food traditions. Visitors see how deeply wine is woven into Italian society.

Access requires climbing stairs and exhibitions are spread across multiple levels, so visitors should be prepared for some physical movement. A visit typically takes a few hours depending on how much time you spend with the interactive elements.

The tour starts on the third floor at a panoramic terrace overlooking the landscape, then descends through the castle. Visitors end their journey in the oldest cellars, where centuries of wine storage history literally surrounds them.
