Palazzo Ranuzzi, Renaissance palace in Bologna, Italy
Palazzo Ranuzzi is a three-story Renaissance building distinguished by a grand elliptical staircase and multiple decorated halls. The ceilings feature painted frescoes depicting allegorical figures and seasonal scenes throughout the interior.
Carlo Ruini commissioned construction in the late 1500s before the Ranuzzi family acquired the building in 1679. The family carried out major renovations over the following decades, which continued until 1822.
The interior displays works by Italian masters that show the taste of the family who owned it. The frescoes and decorations tell of the artistic preferences of those who lived and worked here.
The building now houses Bologna's Court of Appeals and can be explored by visitors. Thanks to its central location in the city, it is easy to reach and accessible on foot.
The gallery contains painted decorations illustrating the healing properties of thermal waters from Porretta. This connection runs deep, as the family has been linked to that location since 1482.
