San Pietro

San Pietro is a Romanesque parish church in Minturno featuring a portico with five pointed arches and a bell tower divided into three tiers with double-arched windows. The interior is outfitted with wooden coffered ceilings, marble decorations, and side chapels.

The building served as the cathedral of Minturno from the 6th to the 9th century before being repurposed later. Significant modifications took place during the Renaissance and 18th century, shaping the church's current character.

Behind the main altar sits a 13th-century fresco depicting the Virgo Lactans, a rare medieval image rarely seen in parish churches. This artwork rests above a crypt containing quadrangular burial chambers from earlier times.
