St. Lucius Church, Neoclassical church in Brugherio, Italy.
The white stone church stands on an elevated base with a wide stairway leading to an entrance supported by ionic pillars and crowned by a hemispherical dome.
The church was originally built in Lugano in 1542, then dismantled and reconstructed in Brugherio between 1815 and 1832 under the direction of architect Giocondo Albertolli.
The interior displays 24 medallions depicting saints and classical mythological decorations, with a central bas-relief of Cristo in pietà at the dome's summit.
The church remains open for religious services and visits as part of the Villa Sormani complex, accessible through Via San Maurizio al Lambro in Brugherio.
The entire structure was transported stone by stone from Switzerland to Italy, making it one of few churches that crossed national borders in their complete form.
