Palazzo Cornaro, Renaissance palace in Trevi district, Rome, Italy
The Palazzo Cornaro features a grand entrance on Via del Tritone leading to a decorated staircase and halls with panels depicting natural elements and seasons.
Cardinal Luigi Cornaro commissioned architect Giacomo del Duca to build this palace between 1582 and 1584, incorporating existing structures in the area.
The palace ceiling decorations include a private chapel with frescoes from the late sixteenth century depicting God the Father and Marian cycle scenes.
The Department for Regional Affairs and Autonomies currently operates in the building, with approximately 200 employees working in its offices.
The underground area of Palazzo Cornaro contains a section of the Acqua Vergine aqueduct, which dates back to 19 BC and connects to Trevi Fountain.
