Palazzo Carpegna

Palazzo Carpegna, City palace in Trevi, Rome, Italy

Palazzo Carpegna is a city palace located near Trevi in Rome, featuring a distinctive oval ramp design within its interior spaces. The building displays refined stucco ornamentation and a columned portico that frames the entrance on its ground level.

Count Ambrogio Carpegna acquired the property around 1630 and hired architect Francesco Borromini to redesign its interior and exterior spaces. Borromini's work transformed the building into an example of Roman Baroque design.

The National Academy of San Luca maintains its headquarters at Palazzo Carpegna since 1934, preserving collections of artworks within its halls.

The palace is easily accessible by Metro Line A via Barberini station, or by several bus lines that serve the neighborhood. Morning hours offer the best light for viewing the building's architectural details.

The National Academy of San Luca has made the palace its home since 1934, using several halls for rotating art exhibitions and public programs. The Salone d'Onore functions as a concert space where chamber music performances take place regularly.
