Castello di Baratuli, Castle on Mount Oladiri, Monastir, Italy.
The hexagonal structure contains a central courtyard with a cistern and storage facilities, offering views across the valleys of Monastir.
Built in the mid-12th century by the Donoratico counts to control southern Campidano, the castle was destroyed by Pisan forces in 1308.
The castle grounds reveal layers of settlement, from Nuragic foundations through medieval modifications, representing multiple periods of Sardinian architecture.
The castle site remains open daily from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM without admission charges.
Recent excavations at the castle site uncovered evidence of an earlier Nuragic settlement beneath the medieval fortification foundations.
