Convento di San Bernardino, Franciscan convent in Trento, Italy.
Convento di San Bernardino is a religious complex set on a hill overlooking the city. The compound includes two cloisters, a sixteenth-century villa, and several stone buildings arranged around its grounds.
The convent was founded in 1452 near the Ghiaie area. Following devastating floods from the Fersina stream, it was relocated and rebuilt between 1690 and 1694.
The convent library preserves 200,000 volumes, including 25,000 antique editions predating the nineteenth century, housed in an eighteenth-century hall.
The church section is open to visitors, while other parts serve as a provincial archive and administrative offices. Plan your visit with this in mind, as access to certain areas may be restricted.
The Madruzzo Tower was integrated into the compound and supported by a local noble. This architectural addition reveals how regional figures influenced the site's development.
