Sentiero Busatte, Heritage trail in Nago-Torbole, Italy
Sentiero Busatte is a marked hiking trail on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, listed as Italian national heritage, connecting Torbole with the Busatte area. The path runs mostly along the cliff face above the water, with sections that cross natural rock formations and wooded slopes.
The trail has been used for centuries by people living in the villages around Lake Garda to move between communities along the shore. Its recognition as national heritage helped keep the original route intact rather than allowing it to fall out of use.
Some sections of the trail pass over metal staircases bolted directly into the rock face, giving walkers the feeling of moving above the water. This part of the route is especially popular with visitors and is often photographed.
The trail starts from the Parcheggio Panorama parking area near Torbole and is well signposted throughout. Solid footwear is strongly recommended because some sections are steep and rocky, and the exposed cliff passages require a good grip.
At certain points the path uses metal staircases drilled into vertical rock, hanging above the lake with no ground beneath. These structures were added because the terrain at those spots made a ground-level route physically impossible.
