Construction of the palace began in 1936 after the demolition of the medieval neighborhood, replacing the former Hospice of Santa Galla.
The interior contains the Forma Urbis decoration by Duilio Cambellotti from 1938, displaying a marble and mosaic map measuring 440 by 330 centimeters.
Located at Via Luigi Petroselli 50, the palace functions as a municipal center where citizens can obtain personal documentation and administrative services.
During the construction phase, workers discovered ancient horrea from the Roman river port beneath the building site, revealing the location's mercantile past.
