Orrido di Ponte Alto

The Orrido di Ponte Alto is a narrow gorge carved by the Fersina River into red rock, featuring two waterfalls that plunge through the confined space. The site's steep walls and layered stone formations create a dramatic natural setting shaped entirely by flowing water.

The gorge was recognized in the 16th century for its potential in water control and engineering. Early hydraulic systems were built then to manage flooding and harness the river's power.
