The museum opened in February 2022 and celebrates one century of nature protection in the region, marking the centenary of the Abruzzo National Park. It documents how park protection evolved over that span of time.

The museum showcases sections dedicated to regional wildlife, particularly the Apennine chamois and Marsican brown bear, which hold deep meaning for local communities. These animals represent the connection between people and their natural surroundings.

The museum is located in a historic building in central Pescasseroli and is easily accessible on foot. The spaces are manageable in size, making a visit comfortable within one to two hours without any special preparation needed.

The museum occupies the former stables of Palazzo Sipari, the building tied to Erminio Sipari, the park's founding figure; some objects on display belonged to him and to the philosopher Benedetto Croce. Its 35 panels trace about 120 years, from 19th-century proposals to the 1923 royal decree, the 1933 suppression and the 1950 reconstitution.
